PostNL N.V. is the Netherlands' postal and parcel company, headquartered in The Hague and listed on Euronext Amsterdam. It was called TNT N.V. until 2011. Its own annual report describes 37 sorting and distribution centres in the Netherlands plus two distribution centres in Belgium, a growing network of automated parcel lockers, and a mail network of sorting centres, delivery offices and collection points. Its international arm, Spring Global Delivery Solutions, is described as operating in 10 European countries and connecting customers to 190 destinations worldwide.
There is one thing worth knowing before you read your own tracking page. A number in the international two-letters-plus-nine-digits form that ends in NL was issued in the Netherlands, which means the parcel was posted there. Almost every number of that shape on the 24hTrack platform is an item leaving the Netherlands for somewhere else, and the destinations that come up most are Brazil, Canada, France, Sweden, Romania, Germany, the United Kingdom and Greece. So if you are not in the Netherlands and your number ends in NL, nothing is wrong: you bought from a seller who posted it there, and a postal carrier in your own country will hand it over at the end.
Ships for: Dutch and Belgian online shops shipping to customers abroad, Marketplace sellers posting from the Netherlands, including bol and Amazon sellers, Merchants using PostNL's cross-border and Spring international services, Anyone posting a tracked parcel or registered item at a PostNL point
Tracking number format: Two letters, nine digits, then NL — for example LX000000000NL. That is the international postal format and it covers almost every PostNL number on the 24hTrack platform; the pairs that show up most are LX, LR, CK and CH. The NL at the end is the country that issued the number, not the country it is going to
Typical delivery time: These are cross-border items, not next-day domestic Dutch parcels, and the clock shows it. Measured on the 24hTrack platform from the first scan to the delivery scan, half of the parcels were delivered inside about 18 days and 80% inside about 30. The silence in the middle is normal rather than a fault: the longest quiet stretch on a typical number runs about 5 days, one number in five goes about 11 days or more without a single scan, and roughly a third go a full week with nothing. Nobody is handling the parcel during the flight and the customs queue, so nobody is scanning it.
Knowing where your parcel is makes it easier to plan the day you collect it. With 24hTrack you don't need an account on PostNL's website. Paste the tracking number in the box above and we work out which carrier it belongs to and show you every scan PostNL has published, on one page.

It means the seller has told PostNL that a parcel is coming and has printed the label, but PostNL does not physically have it yet. It is the single most common entry on PostNL histories, and it is the one people misread: a pre-advice is an announcement, not a movement. The parcel is still with the sender. The next real step is "Consignment received at the PostNL Acceptance Centre" or "The item is received by PostNL". If it sits on pre-advice for several days, chase the shop, not PostNL — only the sender can hand the parcel over.
On cross-border items, gaps are the normal shape of the journey. The longest quiet stretch on a typical number runs about 5 days, one in five goes about 11 days or more, and roughly a third go a full week with no scan at all — because nothing is scanned while the item is in the air or waiting in customs. Scans resume with "The item has arrived in the country of destination". If the last scan is still "pre-advised", the parcel has not been handed over yet; if it is already inside your country and nothing has moved for well over a week, ask the seller to open a case.
Two letters, nine digits, then NL — for example LX000000000NL, 13 characters in total. The prefixes you will see most often are LX, LR, CK and CH. Almost every PostNL number on the 24hTrack platform uses exactly that shape, so if yours is longer, shorter, or has extra letters in the middle, check that it was copied whole. Paste it on the 24hTrack home page and the carrier is detected for you — you do not have to pick PostNL from a list.
No. In the international postal numbering scheme the last two letters say which country issued the number, not where the parcel is heading. NL means it was posted in the Netherlands. The seller you ordered from shipped it from there, and once it reaches your country the local postal carrier finishes the delivery — often under a second, local number that PostNL never sees. That is why the PostNL page can go quiet near the end while your own postal service is already carrying the parcel.
Half the parcels measured on the 24hTrack platform reached a delivery scan inside about 18 days, and 80% inside about 30. Treat that as the cross-border window, not the domestic one — a parcel posted and delivered inside the Netherlands is a different, much shorter service. The long tail is nearly always customs and the international leg rather than the delivery round at the end.
Inside the Netherlands and Belgium, PostNL itself, to your door or to a parcel locker or collection point. On an item going abroad, PostNL carries it to the destination country and the national postal carrier there completes the last leg. The 24hTrack platform shows every scan PostNL publishes, including the "arrived in the country of destination" handover, so you can see the exact point at which the parcel stopped being PostNL's to move.
Yes. Paste the number on the 24hTrack home page and you get the status and the event history with no account and no sign-up. A free account is only there if you want the parcel saved and re-checked for you instead of pasting the number again.
